So, Rob moved to Cait Sith today. I'm still adjusting. It went from a semi-running joke about "When are you going to ditch those idiots on Quetz and move to a real server with a good shell?" and turned into "If you'd have me, I'd move tonight." Sure enough, that happened.
How weird. This is, barring the week Billy and I played Halo: Reach on Live, the first lasting approach anyone from Philadelphia has taken to working the long distance thing and hanging out with me. Sure, there's AIM and stuff but that doesn't really work. A word here and there isn't hanging out, it's just feigning interest and trying not to fade out of someone's life.
There's potential here, and I like the electric nerve running through the core of it. Two more people? People I know who can be reliable? Work hard? Be competent? People who aren't more interested in their mog house, or moving servers to do Dunes parties? I can get behind this. Jobs that line up nicely with all of our own? I can get behind this. Lots of room to grow and change and improve as a whole, with my friends? I can fucking get behind this.
It is weird, I suppose. Rob and I had a bit of a combative friendship, though that isn't the word. Guy was probably one of my best friends in Philly before stupid dramz made a bit of a rift, and I'm legitimately excited and happy we're getting to do stuff again. There's so much to be done, to do.
I guess the name of the game is empowerment. I like empowering those I hold close, and by extension I am empowered by their strength too. Pack mentality, I suppose. I know there's been some tension in the past (the distant past now, although it was only two years it feels like a lifetime) it's nice to have someone I know as well as any other Nightblade around. It isn't like I'm biased in any one way or another, but... I don't know. It's a familiar feeling. I like it. I know I can rely on Mai, and on Seik (most of the time!) and Claire and Ramp and Kermie. And I know I can rely on Rob to do his damndest towards whatever we're working on. I know all of the other Nightblades don't feel the same way, and for good reason: They've been burned before. I'm hoping truly that things will be different now, and for the better, for the best.
It's exciting. I'm hoping good things come from this, and not a raging burning post three weeks from now when the whole thing's gone to waste. Before, we could do anything. Time to improve on that a bit. It's a bit exciting to being able to basically build a willing player into a death machine. WoE is possible on off-time, kind of. Not sure if Seik or Mai have it in them to work for someone else who is new, but the AF3 is certainly possible. I was glad to see Rob performing within 10 DPS of Mai's ninja tonight, that shows a lot of promise. There's a lot possible here, and I can't be the only one to see it.
In other news, getting to spit venom at that gimp war tonight was pleasant. Hating openly and sharply at people implying taking a mob they can't handle as "grimy" was pleasant. Openly trolling Pchan on the AH forums was pleasant. I hunger less.
The short of that last part is that Pchan feels Abyssea is over, dead, done for, gone, wasted, and all of the new shinies we got not worth the time because SE is going to just replace them. Sounds to me (and everyone else) that someone is asspained over SE taking the wind out of someone's precious Salvage gear. I replied posting that WAR hitting haste cap easily is hardly "a minimal upgrade." He replied calling me a gimp, mentioning WAR has always been able to hit haste cap. Using
Turban 5%
Dusk+1 Hands 4%
Haidate 5%
Dusk+1 Feet 3%
Twilight Belt 7%
Tiercel Necklace? (some unnamed "torque") 1%

25%. Not 26%, mind you, for true haste cap. 25%.
Wearing Twilight Belt and Tiercel. Which WAR is not listed on. Speed Belt would be 24%, not 25%, and the Acuben's helm is 6% haste at the cost of TEN accuracy. Again, not 26%.
I forgot that if you aren't in two pieces of epeen HQ gear that was EASILY replaced you are a gimp.
Better, when I mentioned the 26.3 acc/atk on the WAR body, he mentioned WAR doesn't need ACC. Or ATK, for that matter, because "before beserk, with dia3 and 100~atk food you are capping attack."
For those of us playing the home game, that means that, without body armor equipped AT ALL, Warrior is capped accuracy AND ATTACK with just meat. No need for JAs, no need for armor. No need for Ares's, because the STR/ATK combines to be 20(?) attack. And WAR doesn't even need 26, so 20 is right out. And no need for Hauberk, because we definitely don't need anything else. Armadaberk? Completely wasted on a WAR.
He offered to "math" it for him, his quotes not mine, and when I asked him to yes please, show me the math where WAR needs no accuracy or attack or job abilities to cap accuracy and attack on everything, he never got back to me. Shame, I'd hate to have been overdoing it all this time.
Keep in mind, if it wasn't obvious, Pchan quit before he ever reached level 80. No need to play the game when you know all the mechanics by heart, I guess, including the secret to how WAR can equip Twilight Belt and Tiercel neck.
I also just noticed the delicious irony in him saying that Abyssea gear is useless and will be outdated and how WAR has always capped haste I just didn't because I'm a gimp yet offering 1) a piece offered in a late-game addition (that WAR still cannot wear, and could never wear) in Tiercel while also 2) Suggesting Twilight Belt, which requires you to have completed that silly Abyssea content that is meaningless.
Yes, you could replace Twilight with Speed (which is still not 7% to properly cap haste) and Turban with Acuben's (at the cost of 10 accuracy, which WAR obviously does not need ever) and still not reach 26%. Yes, these updates were available as soon as VNMs got released, as that helm comes from Krabkatoa. There's a reason you never see anyone wearing it, though. Pimpchan clearly missed the memo where wearing -10 accuracy is a bad thing.
I COULD eat pizza to make up the different, but WAR doesn't need attack, either, because with Dia3 we're capped damage on everything in the game. Who needs bison steak?
My disdain is palpable.
No idea what the event will be tomorrow, so it'll be exciting to check it out. Currently leaning towards farming Tiger King hides for the cerb on Sunday, since they cost about 160k per and are only a drop from a timed NM. Of course, it'll be the weekend so we'll see. All else fails, we demolish Scars content for NIN/BLU seals at the speed of Victory Fury.
