Occam's Razor

I've been slacking. I should have taken care of Sue's DS as soon as we got home like, two weeks ago. I put it downstairs and forgot all about it once I realized the DSi charger is different than the DSlite charger and INTENDED to bring it back up to work on, but... I've been so busy that I'd forgotten all about it after the initial five minutes where I'd wake up and say "I need to check that out today."

Sue said the battery was dead inside. This happens in Nintendo products, but never in any I've owned, and I still have a functional DSphat downstairs with a Pokemon game in it. It's not that I didn't believe her or anything; My time at Gamestop had me tell many an uninformed mother what to do to replace their brats' batteries. I just wanted to make sure that the problem WAS in fact her battery before replacing it, so I thought it was possibly her charger. Those things are more likely to give out than the actual battery in my experience.

Well, I was wrong. I tested with Alex's charger and the battery light didn't even turn on. This leads me to the actual problem.

I now suspect her battery is just fine, it's her DS that's busted. Man, I just cannot accept a practical solution, can I? I'll be trying to get her a replacement battery today. I'm not going to be able to go through Nintendo for it because her unit has no serial number on it, but that's okay. All else fails and I should be able to install it myself.
