Gotta say, wasn't expecting that. We went into Salvage again tonight for the second time since the update and yet again had a rough time. Sort of. This time it had nothing to do with botched pulls or links or anything else, we just had a hard time knocking a lot of the rust off. Zhalyom runs have been almost entirely boss only so when we were trying to hit NMs, we ran into a small problem where we forgot to actually pop the NMs we needed. Oops.
That wasn't a bad thing, though. We cleared entirely the third floor, both wings, and in doing so we learned exactly what a fully skilled, pimped-for-75 set of characters can do. We also got to see what a proper AoE weaponskill does to mobs. We also got to see what a SAM and a WAR can do to a boss in five minutes.
It's weird being the piledriver suddenly. I'm used to being solid, not the star. I'm not sure how to process it. Even when we were in Abyssea, the numbers firmly point towards the new direction of, well, me > other DDs. It's weird. That's not how this works.
For as full of myself as I am, even I have a hard time saying this stuff. It's one thing to go on about being awesome, but when the numbers actually point in that way? And support that ego? That's weird. I think this is the transition where the trash talk and stuff ebbs away and instead we get the Dissidia commentary. If the numbers aren't a fluke and are accurate for how things will be, there's no need to be egocentric. I can do my job confidently and just kind of roll with it that way.
We'll see, though. There's still a whole new world out there.
