Preliminary Bitching

I know everything changes in 5.0. I know everything is being reworked, I know none of this is concrete, I know what we have now is going to be different and make more sense. I know these things.

I'm going to complain about them anyway, though, because that's what I do.

Tier 1:

Speed of Light, 1 minute cooldown. 60% movement speed for 6 seconds, radiate healing.

Long Arm of the Law, 45% movement speed for 4 seconds after landing a Judgment

Pursuit of Justice: You gain 10% movement speed for each current charge of Holy Power. Presumably a constant effect? (Not listed as instant or anything, so maybe fluctuates as you gain HP.
)

These seem kind of neat, they all allow a separate degree of varying movement speed on varying timers. None seems to have an advantage over the others, though Speed of Light's healing seems handy.

Tier 2

Fist of Justice: 30s cooldown, 6second stun

Repentance: 1.5second cast, functions as it exists now only there is no cooldown listed.

Seal of Justice: Seal effect, reduces movement speed of target by 50% and does piddling damage

Again, these seem handy. You have either an instant extra stun or a longer-lasting CC in Repentance, though I am saddened by losing that from my base repertoire. Honestly, I could see neglecting it entirely since the Fist or Seal will serve better in PVP considering the cast time.

Tier 3

Blessed Life: 100% chance to gain Holy Power whenever you take direct damage or are stunned/feared/rooted. Cannot occur more than once every 8 seconds.

Sacred Shield: When reduced below 30% health, gain a Sacred Shield that absorbs 18005 damage and increases healing received by 20%. Lasts 15 seconds, only procs once every 60 seconds.

Ardent Defender: 3m cooldown, reduces damage by 20% for ten seconds and the next attack that would kill you instead leaves you with 15% max health.

I'm not thrilled about this hypothetical tier. Blessed Life seems to be the most Ret-useful I guess? It specifies direct damage though, so even then it won't do a terrible lot in a dungeon environment. The other two feel too Prot-specific, since again Ret shouldn't be in a position to need bubbles or straight mitigation. That said, paladin already (currently, anyway) has a 20% mitigation (on a one minute timer, no less) and seeing Ardent Defender as a talent makes me concerned about it being removed.

Tier 4

Selfless Healer: Successful Judgments reduce the cost of your next Flash of Light by 50% and improve effectiveness by 50%, stacks up to 2 times.

Eternal Glory: Your Word of Glory and Light of Dawn have a 30% chance to not consume Holy Power.

Holy Shield: 1 Holy Power, Instant. Shields friendly target, absorbing 1507 damage per Holy Power. Lasts 10 seconds.

If Tier 3 seemed Prot-Heavy, this one is definitely Holy-heavy. Again, as a pure DPS perspective, none of these are appealing. Eternal Glory has some PVP utility I guess, but Selfless Healer does nothing for self-target and Holy Shield isn't worth the trade off of Templar's Verdict for 5k damage stopped. Of course, we were told not to worry about the numbers, so that might change, but still, not doing damage does less damage than doing damage. This is also the tier I feel is going to be the least-accurate when we finally get them just because of how one-spec centric it appears to be.

Tier 5

Veneration: Consecration causes a Veneration effect on all party/raid members in the AoE, causing them to be immune from movement impairing effects for 6 seconds.

Acts of Sacrifice: Reduces the cooldown and mana cost of Hand of Freedom/Protection/Sacrifice by 20%. In addition, Cleanse removes one movement impairing effect when cast on self.

Clemency: 5m cooldown, Instant. When activated, immediately finishes the cooldown on Hand of Freedon/Protection/Sacrifice.

This seems to be the PVP-specific tier. Veneration seems like a neat effect but Cons doesn't have a large AoE to begin with. I'm not sure I have to point out how silly it is to require your raid or party to stand in place for 6-8 seconds so they can not be stuck in place for 6-8 seconds. Acts of Sacrifice again offers more PVP utility by allowing not only Cleanse to break snares but lets you make more use of your Hands. Again, not much Dungeon use here since currently HoP is the only terribly important one and that shouldn't be thrown around that often. Clemency seems underwhelming overall.

Tier 6

Holy Avenger: Summoning your Guardian of Ancient Kings also imbues with the power of a Holy Aveneger, causing none of your abilities to consume Holy Power and cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed. Lasts 10 seconds.

Sanctified Wrath: Gain more access to an ability during Avenging Wrath

Holy: Holy Shock has no cooldown.
Protection: Judgment has no cooldown
Retribution: You can use Hammer of Wrath.

Divine Purpose: Abilities that cost Holy Power have a 15% chance to cause the Divine Purpose effect, which makes your next ability to consume no Holy Power and to cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed.

Finally, a seemingly-Ret-specific talent list. Sadly, they seem underwhelming and again causes me to worry a bit about what might get cut in favor of these. Holy Avenger is eerily similar to Zealotry's ability to permit TV spam, and considering how hard Crusader Strike hits it almost seems like six in one hand and a half-dozen in the other. Of course, Zealotry is on a 2 minute timer and lasts 20 seconds, not on a 5 minute timer and lasting 10 seconds.

Sanctified Wrath worries me a bit too, considering they already stated how much they were gimping Hammer of Wrath. It doesn't have the punch it used to so being forced to pick up a talent to be able to utilize a (going-to-be) terrible attack seems like an odd choice for the level 90 talent.

Divine Purpose has an interesting phrasing since currently it's a long list of abilities that proc it. The new one, however, specifically only allows Holy-Power required abilities to trigger it, so for Ret that means basically just Templar's Verdict. Barring new HP attacks, of course, but enh, let's be honest, they won't do that considering TV also eats HP.

I'm not thrilled about the final tier "breaking" a bunch of my current abilities, I'm seriously going to miss Divine Purpose from 86 to 90. Still, I'm optimistic and I think this is all a positive change.

Also, I am geeking out of being a monk. I already picked a name and locked it down and everything.
